Terminology and System Concepts
This page provides definitions of the key terms used across the Pabrindlex platform and its documentation. Familiarity with these concepts supports effective use of the system and its information structures.
The terms below are used consistently throughout the Pabrindlex interface, help documentation, and support communications. Where a term has a specific meaning within the system that differs from its general usage, the system-specific meaning is given here.
Category
A defined grouping of information items within the Pabrindlex system. Each category contains items that share relevant characteristics in terms of subject matter or type. Categories are the primary navigation structure of the system. A category label describes the nature of its contents and is used consistently throughout the interface.
Classification
The process of assigning an information item to a category based on its content and type. Classification is carried out before content appears in the interface. The classification model used by Pabrindlex applies consistent criteria across all sections of the system, so that items with similar characteristics are grouped together regardless of where they appear.
Content Area
A section of the Pabrindlex interface containing one or more categories and their associated items. A content area typically represents a broader subject domain from which individual categories are derived. Navigating to a content area allows users to browse the categories within it before selecting the one most relevant to their enquiry.
Information Item
A single unit of classified content within the Pabrindlex system. An information item belongs to one category and is presented in a consistent format alongside other items in that category. Items are not duplicated across multiple categories; if an item relates to more than one category, it is assigned to the most closely matching one.
Interface
The visual and interactive layer of the Pabrindlex system through which users access and review information. The interface presents classified content in a structured format and provides the navigation tools needed to move between categories and content areas. The interface does not modify content; it reflects what has been classified and stored in the system.
Access Request
A formal enquiry submitted to the Pabrindlex support team for the purpose of requesting access to a specific area of the system. An access request is submitted through the Enquiries page using the contact form. It does not confer access automatically; the support team reviews each request and responds with the outcome.
Structured Review
The activity of examining information within a defined category using the consistent presentation format provided by the Pabrindlex interface. Structured review is distinct from general browsing in that it operates within a set of predefined parameters — the category, its items, and their shared format — rather than across all available content simultaneously.
Support Team
The team at Pabrindlex Ireland Limited responsible for responding to enquiries, processing access requests, and addressing questions about the system. The support team can be contacted at [email protected] or by telephone at +353 1 447 8230. Response times are not fixed; the team aims to address submissions as promptly as reasonably possible.
Classification Model
The set of rules and criteria used by the Pabrindlex system to assign information items to categories. The classification model defines what characteristics determine membership in each category and how items are treated when they relate to more than one area. The model is applied consistently across the system to ensure that navigation remains predictable and reliable.
Navigation Structure
The arrangement of links, labels, and pathways that allow users to move between sections, categories, and content areas within the Pabrindlex interface. The navigation structure is designed to reflect the category hierarchy of the underlying content, so that the labels users encounter correspond directly to the information available within each section.
